Rory N. Birdsey is a self-taught artist, his only formal training being secondary school. He has perfected the medium of soft pastel, as well as that of oil paints over the last 40 years. His subjects include nature and landscape scenes that echo the essence of mother nature and some of Colorado’s historic towns, mines, and buildings that ring of fortunes told. Rory draws his inspiration from his experiences living in the mountains, hunting, fishing, prospecting, and the immense beauty Colorado has to offer.

The Birdsey prints are reproduced using the Gilcee process. Gilcee is a process to produce prints that capture museum quality prints. The prints are imaged by and will be produced by a very well-known reproduction specialist in Denver using state-of-the-art equipment to capture every detail. The prints are the same size as the original. Believe me, the prints look just like the original. If you are in the Creede area, there are a few prints hanging in Cafe Ole on main street.

We are very honored that our long time family friends are allowing us to hang Rory's prints in their family owned and operated diner, Cafe Ole, located on main street in Creede Colorado.
Stop by the Cafe Ole for fresh baked pastries, a light breakfast and sandwiches, soups & salads for lunch.
The owners of Cafe Ole have been members and pillars in the Creede Community for years; bringing good things to the community and visitors of the small mining town. They have fed people from all over the country and it is common to see a line at their door before they open. They greet you with a smile, kindness, a hot cup of coffee and wonderful things to eat.
Visit the Cafe Ole face book page to get a taste of their special treats.
This adventure started with the Creede Sledding Hill picture and the desire to share this print with the community of Creede, allowing them to return to their childhood memories of sledding down Creede’s sledding hill. We starting asking Denver picture framers to recommend someone who could print Rory’s picture. Every lead that we recieved lead to one person, a well-known reproduction specialist who prints museum quality prints for museums and clients all over the United States.
Not knowing anything about the printing world, I took Rory’s Sledding Hill pastel in and had them print one print. When I first saw the print it was breath taking and it looked just like the original. I framed the original and the first print using the same frame and the matting. The original and the print look priceless and cannot tell them apart.
The Giclee process is very sophisticated and has many variables. It is does cost more than the basic printing, but the end result is well worth it. We used a higher quality paper material that brings the touch of an original. The print quality is like having the original hanging on your wall.
Please contact Randy Birdsey about purchasing prints, suggestions or questions that you have about the prints.
